Computer Expert Reveals How Face ID Technology Probably Works

When Apple introduced Face ID, it claimed that the technology protects the phones of the user by providing automatic and secure authentication. This feature can be used for performing various tasks like unlocking your iPhone or iPad Pro to authorizing purchases from the iTunes Store or paying with Apple Pay. Apple claims at their site, “The technology that enables Face ID is some of the most advanced hardware and software that we’ve ever created.”

The site further states, “Face ID automatically adapts to changes in your appearance, such as wearing cosmetic makeup or growing facial hair. If there is a more significant change in your appearance, like shaving a full beard, Face ID confirms your identity by using your passcode before it updates your face data. Face ID is designed to work with hats, scarves, glasses, contact lenses, and many sunglasses. Furthermore, it’s designed to work indoors, outdoors, and even in total darkness.” This is what the tech giant’s website claims, however, no one knows how it works.

A YouTube channel Computerphile has released the latest clip where he is explaining the secret behind the Face ID. The explanation is based on his understanding, and he is also not sure if he truly understands how it works. However, his statement seems to be very close to the real working. Watch this video to understand the functionality introduced by Apple.
