A Chinese man who had to spend seven months away from his apartment in Langfang, Hebei Province, was in for quite a shock when he finally managed to get back to his apartment. Upon his return, he found out that his apartment had undergone a transformation and become a small botanical garden.
The anonymous man decided to take the matter to social media where he shared the pictures and videos of what was awaiting him when he entered his apartment after being away for about seven months. He went away before the COVID-19 pandemic and was then unable to return.
The pictures and videos show vines that have lined the walls of the apartment and even taken to the hanging frames, the TV set, and furniture as supports to grow further into the apartment. Some of the stems are even hanging from the roof. The video of this surprise botanical garden became viral quickly and many social media users were left wondering about the explosive growth.
The owner of the apartment said that he was stuck in his hometown since the Spring Festival because of the COVID-19 lockdown. He was only able to return to his apartment at the end of last month and had no idea that such a scene would be waiting for him. He had requested his brother who lives in the same building and has a spare key to keep checks on the state of the place. He had even asked his brother to water the plants from time to time. But not in his wildest dreams had he anticipated that his brother would allow the vines to take over like that and transform his apartment into a botanical garden.
One person commented on the video, ‘I’ve had four plants die in the last seven months, what is your brother’s secret?’ It might be that his brother didn’t trim the vines or maybe this was all part of an elaborate prank. What do you think?
