We have seen sand art, brick art, glass art and even garbage art in recent times. All of these have pleased our aesthetic sense and we never thought such robust art can be created with the help of these basic things in life. Every time such an exhibition comes up, we believe it to be the most innovative form of art we have ever seen. Be prepared to have this feeling again as we show you what these Chinese artisans are capable of achieving with crops of varying colours.
Have you ever seen a rice field? Even if you have, there is nothing extraordinary about it except the amount of water accumulated to help the crop grow. The farmers in Liaoning, China obviously see things very differently. They use their variety of shades of the rice plants to their advantage and create astonishing art forms that can be linked to ancient Chinese culture. The surprising thing about these beautiful agrarian expressions is that they are growing all the time and give a different outlook when the plants have grown taller or changed their colour during various transitional phases.

Each design we see today has to be figured out and thought of very carefully. Each planted rice species will grow at its own rate and have a different colour along with varying heights achieved. Some of the colors we see are due to the gaps between the plants. It is not just a remote endeavor as it is part of a large theme park that covers hundreds of thousands of acres. It is also becoming a promising tourist site for the future. The name of the field is derived from the infamous Leonardo Di Caprio starrer Inception that translates into Chinese Dao Meng Kong Jian or area of rice dreams.
Each art piece has unique theme and title.
The rice paddy art has been somewhat of a tradition for the local Chinese people. The images are distorted so that they look perfect only from a specific distance.
In another angle, the Marlyn Monroe becomes oddly distorted.
What’s amazing is that the Chinese have incorporated some popular culture and cartoon characters in their fields. Ask Donald and Mickey over here:
This is how it looks from the ground. The art is a testament to the vision and aesthetic sense of the creators who knew how good it will look from a particular angle.
The main attraction of the national park are these fields, but there are other things like camping grounds and wedding areas that attract tourists there.
