Most of you know about live streaming on Facebook, right? Did you also know that you can use various filters while doing a Facebook Live? As it happens, the provincial government of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was able to increase the ratings of its press conference by accidentally keeping the ‘cat filter’ on during a Facebook Live session.
The live stream of the regional minister, Shaukat Yousafzai, talking to journalists on Friday went viral as soon at it was learned that the person in charge of it had left the cat filter on. The outcome was hilarious; Yousafzai and some other politicians kept on growing pointy ears and whiskers while the Facebook live session continued.
Soon enough, Facebook users started commented on the stream saying that there’s ‘a cat in the cabinet’ and one even commented ‘Shaukat Yousafzai looks like a cat – Meow meow meow.’ The Facebook Live stream continued despite the epic fail. People were having the time of their lives watching serious politicians growing whiskers and pointy ears.
The press conference was deleted only minutes after once it was concluded from the official Facebook page of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) that is in power in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. The screenshots will be staying on the Internet forever, though!
Yousafzai has confirmed the incident and also maintained that the incident happened because of an honest mistake. He said, ‘The cat filter was turned on by mistake, let’s not take everything so seriously. I wasn’t the only one – two officials sitting along me were also hit by the cat filter.’
A press statement has already been issued by the PTI’s social media team that has said that the incident took place because of a human error. The press statement also said that proper actions have already been taken to make sure that no such incident takes place again.
