Next time someone tells you that you are too old to play with your LEGO set, show them this news piece. BMW and LEGO have recently collaborated and created a design that would make even the best of engineers jealous!
The LEGO Technic BMW R 1200 GS Adventure model kit is based on a BMW motorcycle’s design, which has now been converted into the Hover Ride Design Concept – a futuristic and jaw-dropping flying motorcycle made up of LEGO bricks.
The LEGO Technic BMW R 1200 GS Adventure model kit consists of 603 parts and allows LEGO fanatics to create their miniature version of the best-selling BMW R 1200 GS Adventure motorbike. The BMW Motorrad and LEGO first collaborated to create the LEGO Technic model in the shape of the motorcycle, and now, they have gone a step further to make the Hover Ride Design Concept.
Although the hovering vehicle will not hit the markets anytime soon, the press release by BMW displayed their excitement about the project as they described the Hover Ride as a futuristic concept
“full of emotion and creative energy though not laying claim to technological plausibility.”
BMW and LEGO design elements have been bringing designers from both companies to create projects which ensure that the management trainees at the BMW training unit develop multi-disciplinary skills. As a part of team building exercise, the team built this life-size model of the Hover Ride, fully functional with a propeller.
BMW Motorrad’s Head of Vehicle Design, Alexander Buckan, spoke on the project in a video,
“This futuristic concept bike is pretty amazing. I’m really impressed how an idea can be created by LEGO elements and actually become a valid suggestion on how we can ride a motorcycle in the future.”
