That is exactly how the owners of Samsung Galaxy S10 feel after it was discovered by a British woman that her husband was able to unlock her phone with both of this thumbprints.
It was reported by The Sun newspaper in the UK that Lisa Neilson found out that her phone could be unlocked by anyone without having to worry about the thumbprint security. Neilson bought a $3.45 screen protector for her Samsung Galaxy S10 when she realized that she was able to unlock her phone using her left thumb. This was alarming since she had used her right thumb for setting up the security.
Out of curiosity, she asked her husband to unlock and her phone – confirming her fears – as he was able to unlock the phone with both of his thumbs without any issue. Neilson also checked her sister’s Galaxy S10 and soon came to the conclusion that the issue was present on her phone as well. Anyone could unlock these smartphones.
As per the BBC News’ report on the matter, Samsung said that they were ‘aware of the case of S10’s malfunctioning fingerprint recognition and will be issuing a software patch soon.’ The Galaxy S10 was released earlier this year in March, and the company had publicized its new fingerprint system as ‘revolutionary.’ Customers are starting to ask questions regarding whether the South Korean tech company is launching products too soon without determining their functionality and durability thoroughly.
