Audi has recently launched into the electric market and announced its all-electric SUV. The vehicle is midsized and is named e-Tron. This is the first time an all-electric car produced will challenge other players in the game like Tesla, Mercedes, and Porsche. The e-Tron has two electric motors, but their exact output is unknown. Audi boasts the SUV will jump from zero to 60 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds. It has a top speed of 124 mph. A 95-kilowatt battery can store the same power, but it has not been released yet how far the car can go on a single charge.
It is indeed a competitor in the midsize all-electric SUV market. Further details will be released from Audi when the car will make its first public appearance in San Francisco in the coming week. People are very keen to find out the charging times of the vehicle. Audi gave a vague idea saying, “debuts a DC fast charging capability of up to 150 kW available at select high-speed public charging stations, this capability can deliver up to an 80-percent charge in only approximately 30 minutes.”
The sporty looking SUV has a 9.6-kW AC and a level 2 charger. It can deliver a fresh charge overnight. A big plus of the car is its regenerative braking technology. Audi has estimated that 90 percent of the braking energy can be recovered to keep the car on the road for a longer time. Audi has made many cool features available in the vehicle which includes an onboard MMI infotainment system which guides drivers on charging stations on the route as well. The e-Tron will also include Audi’s Virtual Cockpit. It is a high-resolution display which makes navigating easy and removes the need for almost all the switches in the car.
The touchscreen can operate most of the functions in the car. The e-Tron comes with some autonomous features but not the full works. The inbuilt technology maintains the car’s position in the middle of the lane and at a set distance between other vehicles. However, it requires a hand on the steering wheel at all the times. The e-Tron is a very dominant looking car. It is big and has been created to satisfy both luxury car owners and sporty eco-type. The inside of the e-Tron is luxurious with a panoramic sunroof and four-zone air conditioning. The starting price of the car is $74,800 which doesn’t include the $995 for the delivery of the car. The entry-level Premium Plus comes with 20-inch wheels, a 360-degree camera, 16 speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, heated and cooled 12-way adjustable front seats and a full leatherette interior package. In $81,800, you will get a head-up display, driver assistance package, massaging front seats, a Volcano leather interior, and dual-pane acoustic front and side windows. So would you be interested?
