Apple’s Rumored Six-inch ‘AI Wall Tablet’ Could Control Your Smart Home By March 2025

The smart home revolution may soon see a new contender as Apple reportedly works on a smart home display designed to integrate seamlessly into its ecosystem. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this iPad-like device could hit shelves as early as March next year.

The Apple smart home display is said to feature a six-inch screen with thick edges, a built-in camera, speakers, and a rechargeable battery. Designed for flexibility, the device can be wall-mounted or placed on a countertop using a stand equipped with extra speakers—much like the dock-able Google Pixel Tablet.

Apple plans to integrate Siri voice control and its Apple Intelligence system into the display. It will also use proximity sensors to adjust its interface based on a user’s distance from the screen, offering a dynamic and user-friendly experience. Moreover, the Handoff feature will allow users to seamlessly continue tasks across Apple devices, reinforcing the brand’s ecosystem advantage.

The device is expected to serve as a hub for controlling HomeKit-compatible devices, such as lights, security cameras, sensors, and thermostats. This centralized control aligns with Apple’s vision for a more cohesive smart home experience. The rumored operating system is said to blend elements of the Apple Watch OS and the iPhone’s recently launched StandBy mode, optimizing it for quick interactions and real-time updates.

Apple appears to be building a broader smart home ecosystem. Ming-Chi Kuo, a prominent supply-chain analyst, recently reported that the company plans to produce a smart home camera by 2026. This suggests a strategic push to compete with established players like Amazon and Google in the smart home market.

Additionally, reports suggest that Apple is working on a higher-end version of the display featuring a robotic arm capable of tilting and spinning the screen. This premium model could elevate its appeal among tech-savvy users and businesses.

The Apple smart home display draws inevitable comparisons to existing devices like the Amazon Echo Hub and Google Pixel Tablet. By integrating features such as HomeKit control, Handoff, and seamless Apple Music streaming, Apple aims to distinguish its device as a premium offering for users already invested in its ecosystem.
