We could be looking at Apple’s biggest product leak since the infamous iPhone 4 incident back in 2010 when an employee accidentally left a prototype in a bar in California. Right now, alleged pictures and videos of an unannounced 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M4 chip are surfacing on social media—and they’re causing quite a stir.
One recent video was posted by a Russian channel Romancev768 on YouTube Shorts and it appears to be a next-generation MacBook Pro. This follows another video by a different Russian channel just a day earlier. It reveals the unboxing of a 14-inch MacBook Pro carrying the bottom M4 chip variant featuring a 10-core CPU and GPU, 16GB memory, and 512GB storage with three Thunderbolt 4 ports in a Space Black finish. The menu item “About This Mac”, visible in the video, says this might be from November 2024, which means a date in the future, thereby unannounced.
Should these rumors prove to be true, the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro may receive a substantial upgrade, possibly bringing with it an additional Thunderbolt 4 connector and a RAM increase from 8GB to 16GB. In addition, in addition to Space Gray and Silver, there would be a new color option for the base model: Space Black.
Because of the box’s recycled design, photos of the purported MacBook Pro that were first released on social networking site X by “ShrimpApplePro” sparked discussions over their veracity. Though no hard proof has surfaced, the leaks have gained credence despite the criticism thanks to the release of two unboxing films.
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is anticipated to reveal its new Macs with M4 CPUs by the end of October. This covers the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models in both entry-level and higher-end models, along with other Mac upgrades. Regardless of the veracity of these leaks, they have undoubtedly rocked Apple’s close-knit culture of secrecy, bringing back memories of the iPhone 4 breach. It remains to be seen how Apple will react to this most recent possible hack.
