Apple is set to redefine smartphone design with the upcoming iPhone 17 Air, which is rumored to feature an ultra-thin profile of just 5.5mm—or 5.501mm for those who appreciate precision. According to reliable leakster Ice Universe, the iPhone 17 Air will maintain the same footprint and display size as the iPhone 17 Pro Max but will stand out due to its dramatically reduced thickness.
The iPhone 17 Air is expected to share the 163mm x 77.6mm dimensions of its Pro Max sibling, as well as the 6.9-inch LTPO Super Retina display with unchanged bezel thickness. However, where the Pro Max model will measure 8.725mm in thickness, the Air will be significantly slimmer at 5.5mm.
One area where the design remains uncertain is the camera bump. While exact dimensions of the protrusion were not detailed in the leak, CAD-based renders suggest a noticeably raised camera island. The iPhone 17 series is rumored to introduce a new camera layout, and the Air model will likely follow suit, despite reportedly featuring only a single rear shooter.
