Google has announced that the Android 5.0 ‘Lollipop’ is starting to roll out now. This includes major changes to Android in years and also entails the ‘Material design’ look. There has been no news on when will the update be rolled out completely, however, it is being speculated that the Nexus and Google Play edition devices will be the pioneers in experiencing the new update. The runners up, or rather speculated runners up, are Motorola models and some samsung phones as well.
Some suggest that the recently released Nexus 9 tablet is perhaps the only way to experience the Android 5.0 until any other Nexus update is made available or until the Nexus 6 makes its way to the market. That being said, the Google apps that have Material look incorporated have started showing up from the Mountain View. Google has already showed off the new email concept app, Inbox, which has incorporated the similar feel and look. Today Google showed the Google Calendar app and Pocket that have tasted the new update.
The new Calendar app also incorporates Google Now, thereby transforming the emails into calendar events on its own (reservations, concerts etc.). Furthermore it also incorporates a personalized auto complete that will suggest people, titles and place as the user types. The real fun would start, however, once the Android 5.0 update is rolled out completely and we have our hands on devices running them! Fingers crossed.
