Elon Musk recently disclosed the secret of how the world can be changed. The entrepreneur tweeted that people should work 80 hours a week to “change the world.” Regarding the four companies where he serves as CEO; namely SpaceX, Tesla, The Boring Company, and Neuralink, he said, “There are way easier places to work, but nobody ever changed the world on 40 hours a week.”
When a Twitter user inquired how many hours does he think a person should work each week, Musk said that this could range from 80 to 100 hours. He said, “Varies per person, but about 80 sustained, peaking above 100 at times. Pain level increases exponentially above 80 hours.” In an interview with Recode, he said that he was working 120 hours per week while other employees at Tesla was working at least 100 hours. This was done since Tesla increased its production of its Model 3 Sedan. Musk said that long work hours were necessary for Tesla to survive.
Musk said, “There wasn’t some other way to do this.” Some employees at Tesla described the long work hours as excessive while others said that they prefer to work 70 or more hours per week. The long work hours might be good for the company. However, we are not sure how this affects the employees.
