This was noticed by onlookers on November 8, a creation of Boston Dynamics. The vision of robots by the house would place them among the futuristic equipment at the residence of the incoming president.
On video, the robot is seen gliding elegantly through the rich greenery of the estate, its sleek design juxtaposed against the palm trees in the background. Boldly printed across one side, a large warning reads “DO NOT PET.” Just to make sure everyone knows this is strictly business.
The United States Secret Service confirmed the deployment but did not disclose details about its capabilities. A spokesperson told the media, “While we cannot disclose specific capabilities, these robotic dogs are equipped with surveillance technology and advanced sensors to enhance our protective operations.” Following Trump’s survival of two assassination attempts during his campaign, the action is part of increased security. The inclusion of the robot dog is indicative of the growing use of robotic technology by American public safety organizations.
The artificial canines from Boston Dynamics, commonly known as “Digidogs,” have been popular in police enforcement; in the past, the New York Police Department has used them for emergency reconnaissance. Their existence has provoked public discussion, nevertheless, as some have compared them to dystopian portrayals in television programs such as Black Mirror.
Despite the controversy, the technology has proven invaluable in critical scenarios. Following a parking garage collapse in Lower Manhattan last year, a robotic dog assessed the wreckage and searched for survivors, showcasing its life-saving potential.
The military has also adopted these machines for strategic purposes. Earlier this year, Ukraine deployed 30 robotic dogs for reconnaissance and supply delivery during its conflict with Russia, minimizing risk to human personnel.
