An Indiana lawyer named Mark S. Zuckerberg is taking Meta to court after years of having his Facebook accounts suspended because the platform believed he was impersonating its founder. According to a report from the New York Post, he claims the repeated lockouts have cost him both money and credibility.

The attorney says his personal account was disabled five times over the past eight years, while his law firm’s page was suspended four times. During that stretch, he spent around $11,000 on Facebook ads that were effectively wasted when his pages went dark. In his lawsuit, filed in Marion Superior Court, he accuses Meta of negligence and breach of contract, arguing that the company failed to provide him with the service he paid for.

Mark S. Zuckerberg points out that the damage isn’t just financial. Sharing a name with one of the most recognizable figures in tech has created no shortage of headaches. He’s received prank calls, death threats, and mistaken legal filings, including one from the state of Washington. To document the confusion, he even set up a website – iammarkzuckerberg.com – where he collects stories of mistaken identity.

Meta has acknowledged that his accounts were mistakenly flagged and says they have since been restored. Still, the lawyer insists the problem isn’t solved. He’s asking the court not only for reimbursement but also for an injunction to prevent future suspensions and, ideally, a formal apology from the other Mark Zuckerberg. He admits he’s unlikely to get that last request granted but says it highlights just how absurd the situation has become.

The case shines a light on the risks of automated moderation. Social platforms are constantly under pressure to remove fake accounts and impersonators, but in this instance, the systems designed to protect users ended up punishing someone for simply sharing a name. For Mark S. Zuckerberg, the legal battle is about more than money – it’s about finally being able to use his own name online without the world’s biggest social network treating him like an imposter.
