March 2011 saw the start of Syria’s civil war, and the fire soon spread to Aleppo, which is Syria’s largest city. The undeniable monstrosities against the residents aside, one can only weep at the annihilation of the cultural and architectural heritage that this city once boasted, which also holds the title of UNESCO World Heritage site.
The war has forced millions out, killed thousands of innocent people and has ravaged the urban landscape to the point of being unrecognisable.
