You Have Been Washing Your Hands Wrong Till Now. Here’s The Six Step Process That Kills Bacteria

six steps to clean hands

Engineers, especially those working in the field have a lot of physical work to do with bare hands and end up getting them extremely dirty. The ones working in production are better off, but even they work in tough environments and at the end of the day, they will be leaving with plenty of grime on their hands that doesn’t seem to get off even if we drench it in acid itself. The reason behind this poor cleansing is not the soap that you always blame; it is the ineffective hand washing technique that you use.

A new study by Michigan State University researchers found that only 5 percent of people who used the bathroom washed their hands long enough to kill the germs that can cause infections.

Here is the perfect hand washing method from the World Health Organization itself that will make your hands cleaner and wipe away the bits of dirt and clusters of germs present on them:

The whole process comprises of six steps

1. Wet hands and rub palms together

2. Continue rubbing palms with fingers interlaced with each other.

3. Put one hand’s palm over the other one’s dorsal side, interlace fingers and rub for some time. Do the same thing vice versa with the other hand.

4. Interlock fingers and rub the back end of your fingers very thoroughly.

5. Rub your right thumb with your left hand’s palm and rotate it around to cleanse it completely. Repeat with the other hand.

6. Rub your left hand’s thumb and fingertips around your right hand’s palm and try to move it in circles. Do it with the right hand on the left hand as well.

There you have it. The best hand-cleansing operation you might get to know. It beats the previous three-step process according to a research by the World Health Organization. The median bacterial count gets reduced to 2.58 instead of 2.88 in the case of the three-step process. So, after a hard day’s labor, you should take time and clean your hands thoroughly preferably with this technique. It is time people stop running away from you after one look at your hands!
