LG Unveils World’s World’s First Rollable And Semi-Transparent 77-Inch OLED Display

LG recently showed its prototypes of both rollable OLED displays and semi-transparent OLED displays at the Society for Information Display (SID) conference in Los Angeles, USA. LG claims that the 77-inch flexible OLED display is the world’s first transparent OLED display, which actually is translucent.

It means that it will allow light to pass through but will not let detailed objects be seen. It can be called semi-transparent. The OLED panel offers Ultra High Definition (UHD) resolution of 3840 x 2160 along with 40% transparency. It can also be rolled up into a radius of 80 mm without actually affecting the functions of the display.

Executive vice president and chief technology officer at LG Display, Mr. In-Byeong Kang stated, “LG Display is proud to have a pioneering role in the 50-year history of LCD innovations by introducing world-first and world-best technologies such as IPS. We will continue to create innovations in the display industry by establishing a new display paradigm with OLED technology and opening another revolutionary chapter of display history.”
