This Wireless iPhone Charger Turns Your Phone Into An Amazing Work Of Art

Spira – An alternate to Idle Charging Routine6

Your smartphone batteries need to get charged almost every day, and while charging, it’s the time when they are doing nothing. But that’s not the case with Spira, because it transforms your idle smartphone into a work of art while its being recharged.Spira – An alternate to Idle Charging Routine3

Alice Robbiani, an interactive design student at École cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL) in Switzerland, designed the charger called Spira. It is a plain frame with a solid shape design, but that is till the phone is connected. Once the smartphone is connected using the magnetic casing provided, this simple solid frame turns into something alive.

Spira charges your phone using inductive charging. During the process, thermochromic paint contained in the frame heats up and reveals an intricate spiral pattern. It comes with an accompanying Spira app for your phone which performs two tasks; one is displaying white spheres that help in recording the charging process. 10 percent of the battery is represented by each sphere. The second task is displaying a working analogue clock. It remains static, even when the phone is rotated. The spiral design on the frame acts as the face of the clock and the app shows the arms of the clock.

Spira is Robbiani’s diploma project and is therefore, the only one there. And it is not being offered for sale. But it indicates that there are more ways for charging our phone instead of leaving it idly in the corner to get charged – the method we have all come to accept as it is the only option available for us.
