The firm is led by Polish-American architect Daniel Libeskind and was granted the permission by Jerusalem city officials for the construction of 26-story tower dubbed as Pyramid. It will be built right in the center of the ancient city close to Mahane Yehuda Market (The Shuk). The façade shall sport a patterned local glass and stone while the arched colonnade, shall open up the ground floor of the shopping arcade to the surrounding area.

The architect said, “The Pyramid mediates between ancient traditions and myths, while providing a 21st century reinterpretation of that great form. The design complements the context and gives the neighborhood a vibrant public space in the heart of the ancient city.”

Apart from the already mentioned shopping arcade, the Pyramid shall also feature 200 high-end apartments, public plaza, boutique hotel, restaurant and a rooftop observatory. The planning permission will be revoked if the project doesn’t break ground within five years.
