Elon Musk and his Hyperloop high-speed transit system have caught the attention of the world soon after the billionaire innovator announced a desire to make it happen. Since such a huge project cannot be developed by a single company, Musk has invited all tech companies, students and other related specialists to come up with design concepts and test it inside a 1 Km long test tube specially erected for this purpose. To make it a success, he is also keeping all of the technology entirely open source. The Hyperloop will transport people in pressurized capsules on cushions of air at more than the speed of sound. It will be so fast that it will cover a coast-to-coast distance of San Francisco-Los Angeles in less than thirty-five minutes!

Until now, there had been no official document from Space X regarding Hyperloop, but Musk has released a 57-page documented idea how it is going to work. They have been released on the Space X website, and the project is slowly warming up to step up from its prolonged infancy and start the lengthy process of eventual realization.

The California facility of the company will be used to make the test track required to run this competition. Space X announced that all of the test pods will be supplied by third party competitors, and they will have control over their machines. To make the concept safe, the competitors aren’t required to incorporate aspects of human travel at the moment. They will be high-speed rails capable of achieving that Mach-level speed while using SpaceX’s air track.

    I’d happily settle for 200 mph and a view. You could still go the ±3,000 miles from Los Angeles to New York in less than 24 hours. Plus it’s a TRAIN!
