Fidgeting is part of our daily life. The daily stresses, the need to concentrate hard in most of our conscious hours and the ever growing gap between our desires and the reality constantly make us nervous, restless and “fidgety”. While clicking pens, flipping paper clips or rubbing hands might seem annoying when someone else is doing it, it is true that at one point or another, we too have been the culprits of fidgeting. The brainchild of brothers Matthew and Mark McLachlan, the Fidget Cube is an easy to carry desk toy aimed at changing the way fidgeting is perceived in society.
The duo wrote on their Kickstarter page, “It’s not uncommon to hear fidgeting being spoken about negatively. It’s often labelled as unprofessional and deemed as anti-intellectual behaviour.But in reality, the exact opposite has been suggested to be the case. We believe that the way we look at fidgeting needs to change. This behaviour isn’t one that should continue to be stigmatised and mocked as unbecoming or inappropriate. We are passionate about the idea that fidgeting is a process that, with the right tools and outlet, can have positive and real-life applications.”
This is where this a tiny vinyl cube comes into play. It is brilliantly designed to cater for all your clicking, spinning, gliding, flipping or spinning fidgety desires. The product has been designed in the shape of a cube, and each of its eight sides entails a different toy to keep your fingers busy.

The McLachlan brothers started a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for the Fidget Cube with an initial goal of $15,000. And in just a week they have steamrolled over the goal, reaching a whopping $1.8 million in pledges till date. This makes it all the more impressive as the campaign still has 40 days to go, which means the brothers will have a lot more money to enhance their creation.
You can pre-order the toy by pledging $19 on Kickstarter, or get two with a $35 pledge. The products will be delivered anywhere in the world, and the shipping is scheduled to start in December 2016.
