The Tesla Model X In The Deadly Crash Was Operating On Autopilot

Tesla has said that the vehicle in a crash in California was operating on Autopilot. This accident adds to the reasons to doubt the self-driving technology. Tesla told that the driver of the vehicle did not have his hands on the steering wheel for six seconds before the crash occurred. The auto manufacturing company says that the autopilot feature in their cars can keep the speed, change the lane and can self-park. However, it requires its drivers to keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel to avoid an accident.

Previously, a self-driving Volvo SUV, which was being tested by Uber, hit a resident and became a cause of her death. The company was under serious questioning after the incident but the case was dropped on the mutual consent of the victim’s family and Uber.

Tesla defended its Autopilot feature in a blog post saying that the feature doesn’t prevent all accidents, however, it reduces the chances of having one.
