Advertising is getting smarter and smarter to lure and attract as many eyes as possible. This was on the minds of New York Public Library which recently transformed their underground trains into a Subway Library, fully themed as a library with seats camouflaged as book shelves. Similarly, Taipei City has transformed their mass rapid transit (MRT) trains (subway) into an Olympics stadium with a host of sporting event venues adorning the interior.
The transformation is done to make people excited about the upcoming 29th Summer Universiade Games which are scheduled from August 19 to August 30 of 2017.
If people were not very excited about the Summer Universiade event, they sure would be in a frenzy after this elaborate and unique advertisement on wheels! The train cars now boast floors fully designed with illustrations of soccer fields, swimming pools, basketball courts and tracks to get Taipei citizens into the mood.
The paintings are complemented with realistic features and textures to make them very realistic. This is especially the case with the flooring features of the swimming pool which ripple and make the commuters feel like they’re actually sitting over the water.
The Summer Universiade is a mega sporting and cultural event “second only to the Olympic Games” according to their hosts. This year, Taipei City has been given the honor of hosting, with student athletes from all around the world gathering in the city to compete while celebrating “friendship and sportsmanship.”
Taipei City has already constructed over 70 new venues.
This series of clever advertisement is done in a bid to get the city members excited and rooting for the 29th Summer Universiade Games. The train cars have been transformed into mini sports fields on wheels and even have a realistic swimming pool.
Riders are seen having fun with the idea and take loads of pictures, thus providing adequate advertisement push.
One guy even dressed for the occasion!
