The way we see it, either you are a lazy person or someone who could use a pair of extra hands. Either way this article will help you all out, because we all could use some help every now and then. A group of researchers from MIT have come up with a cool invention; a pair of robotic arms.
This amazing robotic invention can be worn on the back like a backpack allowing you to have two robotic arms at your disposal and to help you out with heavy lifting and also when you need a hand to perform some task (take out home keys while carrying grocery shopping). The invention is being called Supernumerary Robotic Limbs (SRLs) and have been designed so that they can be strapped on your back while the robotic arms are capable of coming over your shoulders or from around your waist. The idea is to provide assistance to user whenever required.
These arms come with a system that incorporates gyros and accelerometer and is attached to the user’s wrist. It allow for the system to ascertain what task user is performing. This also allows for the robotic arms to decide when they are needed. The whole system weighs in at 10 pounds only and might very well become a necessity once it hits the market! (if it hits the market). Pretty cool isn’t it?
