New Bluetooth Based Tyre Pressure Monitoring System Keeps Your Car Tyres Healthy

You don’t need to guess anymore if your vehicle’s tire pressure is within an ‘ok’ range or not. All you need is to purchase the Fobo’s new Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), which will be the end of your tire problems as far as leaks and tire pressures are concerned. The TPMS by Fobo makes use of Bluetooth 4.0 to connect to Android or iOS devices coupled with individual tire sensors that are used to monitor the pressures actively and aim at providing data in real time to the user’s smartphone all the time.Bluetooth Tire Pressure Monitoring System by Fobo 8 Bluetooth Tire Pressure Monitoring System by Fobo7 Bluetooth Tire Pressure Monitoring System by Fobo6

A number of similar gadgets are present for bikes and motorbikes, however, Fobo claims that TPMS is the first such gadget for cars. The installation for the smart gauge is as easy as 1, 2, and 3. It replaces the wee cap and makes use of 2 AA batteries for the ‘In-Car’ unit and a single CR2032 button battery for each individual sensor unit. The Fobo Tire gauge then connects to the companion app on Android or iOS platform device.

As per the designers, every tire gets its own unique identifier that enables the system to record data accurately and comes with a 3-level alert system. The alarm is heard over the phone if one of the tire pressures drop below acceptable level. Aggressive alerts follow up if the level drops below safe mark making it unsafe to drive.Bluetooth Tire Pressure Monitoring System by Fobo5 Bluetooth Tire Pressure Monitoring System by Fobo4 Bluetooth Tire Pressure Monitoring System by Fobo2

In case you don’t have a smartphone, the backup system that is based on the in-car unit and covers live monitoring and notifications, takes over. The user is provided with information up to 30 meters away from the car. Corporate clients can have the device setup so that up to 20 cars can be monitored from one app. Although the device mounted on tires will be quite easy to steal, the effort will be useless since each sensor is keyed to the owner’s own Fobo cloud account.

According to Fobo, the device is waterproof and durable. It has been tested in extreme hot and cold environments and has emerged victorious. The batteries are expected to last about two years in normal temperature conditions.Bluetooth Tire Pressure Monitoring System by Fobo

Fundraising goal has been achieved on Indiegogo where for a pledge of $90 you can warrant an in-car unit, four sensors and the free app. Deliveries are expected to start in November if everything goes as planned.

Driving an unaligned car will indeed cut down on your tires life and that is going to cost you. I recently put new tires on my car and I forgot how expensive they are. I would definitely recommend getting your car aligned at least yearly to make sure you are getting the most out of your vehicle.

Great to know the inside out details of the TPMS system. It is sure to get you a real time idea about your shoes and having one less thing to worry about on a long drive. Somehow I have a feeling that this technology is going to be standard OEM initially in high end cars and then trickling down where the dash would show if any particular tyre is losing its pressure.

I’ve had Fobo Tire installed for 6 months now and I have not had any issues with the device. They recently upgraded the app so you can monitor additional sensors. So now I have one on my spare tire (so the spare was ready to go when needed), and I have them on my small 4×6 trailer. After last night’s early warning I purchased an additional Fobo Tire for my wife’s car and will be getting an additional sensor for her spare tire (can be purchased directly from Fobo – FoboXtra). And because you can monitor a number of vehicles with your app, I will be able to add her sensors to my phone. I will update this review once I have the additional FoboTire installed.
