LG Unveils A TV That Is As Thin As Paper And Can Be Hung On Wall With Magnets

When it comes to having TV screen mounted on the wall, the negatives are far greater than the positives. You’d have to consider the time consumption along with the cost of the project and not to mention the limitations it imparts to redesigning your room. LG believes it has found the solution to this problem in the form of an ultrathin wallpaper TV that weighs 1.9kg and measures less than 1 mm thick. During a press event in Korea held on Tuesday the system was shown off. It employs a magnetic mat that sits comfortable behind it on the wall. The TV is then stuck onto the wall by using this pad. When you want to remove the display, simply peel the screen off the mat.

Sang-Deog Yeo, head of LG Display’s OLED business unit, said, “OLED represents a groundbreaking technology’ not only for the company, but also for the industry.” The unveiling of this concept was basically part of a much bigger announcement by LG Display about showcasing its future plans. Sang-Deog Yeo further added, “We should be able to supply a satisfactory volume to our clients from July or August, which means we’re hoping to buckle down production as well as promotion from the third quarter. LG Display will be focusing on large screens and plans on introducing the OLED panel even in 99-inch sized within this year as per the executives. The company has already released its 55-inch, 66-inch and 77-inch OLED models this year. LG Display believes that OLED is going to be the de facto display technology pertaining to all products in the near-future.
