New Leak Reveals That The iPhone 8 May Not Have A Fingerprint Scanner At All

The display of the upcoming iPhone 8 has been all the craze with rumors of a fingerprint scanner embedded in the screen getting rid of all the bezels. We are pretty sure that the phone will not have any physical home button, but one of the most reliable sources in Apple rumors has leaked that the phone will not have the fingerprint scanner integrated into the display. According to his report, the fingerprint scanner will be replaced by a 3D facial recognition feature.

Bloomberg has also reported that Apple is testing the 3D face scanning for the purpose of integrating it into the iPhone 8. A new kind of 3D sensor will be added, and it may also include IRIS scanning feature. Designers are working on this technology to improve the sensors’ recognition speed that can even recognize a face when the phone is lying flat on the table.

The 3D scanner uses more data points than the fingerprint scanner, which makes it pretty much safer as well. The Galaxy S8 came with both facial recognition and iris recognition both of which were reported to be fooled by a photo. The Apple software is different for its 3D scanning and knowing Apple’s reputation for remarkable security, we can rest assured that the phone will only come out after it has been proven secure.

The phone’s LED display is coming from the well reputed KGI’s Ming-Chi Kuo, and the report even claims that there won’t be a fingerprint scanner at all. The Bloomberg report, however, claims that the 3D scanner inclusion depends on testing but knowing the release date is expected around September, the company ought to have finalized it.

Some earlier reports have suggested that the iPhone 8 will come with a separate AI chip for the AI capabilities. The 3D scanning feature sounds great if you are comfortable with feeding the phone so much of your biometric data. It also raises hopes of better gesture recognition and exciting new augmented reality features.
