HTC U12 Plus Is The World’s First Phone With Four Cameras And No Buttons

There have been a number of leaks regarding the HTC U12 Plus, the company’s latest flagship with the U branding. This will be the only flagship by the company in 2018 and the company calls it the “biggest and boldest flagship phone ever”.

HTC is using pressure-sensitive tech for the side buttons which are now fixed in place and provide haptic feedback rather than being mechanical like the front haptic feedback button of iPhone 7 and 8. The phone also features a large 6.1-inch massive QHD+ Super LCD with 6 Corning’s Gorilla Glass protection and a display with 18:9 aspect ratio.

The display has a 28b0 x 1440 resolution with a pixel density of 537. The modes it comes in are HDR 10, DCI-P3 and sRGB. HTC U12 Plus has the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 powering its 64-bit octa-core processor and 6 GB ram. The storage options are 64GB and 128 Gb but can be extended up to 2TB with a micoSD card.

Its 3,500 mAH battery supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging and goes from 0 to 50 in 35 minutes. The smartphone has the Edge Sense 2 system that allows the user to program your own shortcuts within apps for taps, holds, and squeezes of the phone’s sides.

The company has featured 4 cameras on the HTC U12 Plus. The back includes a dual camera setup with one 12 MP (wide-angle lens, UltraPixel 4, 1.4um pixel size, f/1.75 aperture, OIS) and the second 16 MP (telephoto lens, 1.0um pixel size, f/2.6 aperture). There is also a fingerprint sensor at the back along with the cameras.

There are two 8 MP cameras (1.12um pixel size, f/2.0 aperture, 84-degree wide-angle lens) on the front. The phone comes with the Android 8.0 along with HTC’s Sense user interface over the top. HTC U12 Plus has IP68 certification for water and dust resistance and features HTC BommSound as well as Hi-Res Audio recording with 4 microphones.

The phone comes in three colors namely Ceramic Black, Flame Red, and Translucent Blue. The Translucent Blue has a see-through glass back which shows the technology inside your phone. The 64GB version of the phone will cost $799 and the 128GB version will cost $849.
