Elon Musk has an undying love for electric vehicles, and that love is reflected not only from the Tesla cars, but The Boring Company is walking in its footsteps with a futuristic electric vehicle concept for the Boring Tunnel. The company released a teaser video of the under-the-city tunnels, a futuristic transportation network with cars reaching top speeds of 200 kilometers an hour. The company has recently released photos of the electric car concept meant for driving in the tunnel networks.

The car concept shown in the video looks similar to regular cars with the addition of a sled underneath. These cars are transferred to the underground network through an elevator. The vehicle can accommodate up to a dozen people, goods, and even bicycles. Knowing the vehicle is coming from an Elon Musk company, you won’t be wrong to imagine that the car will come equipped with self-driving capabilities.

The most prominent feature of the car is the electric sled which is a “flat plate on wheels propelled by electric motors.” This particular motoring system allows a significant reduction in the diameter of the boring tunnels, thus reducing construction costs. Enhanced stability of these electric vehicles also eliminates the chances of human error, allowing speeds of up to 125 mph.

With a focus on sustainability, the concept is a zero emission vehicle. The Boring Company website has released the photos, but there are no details as to what the plans are for the boring tunnel electric car. Until then, we can expect to see more photos or teaser videos from Elon Musk’s social media accounts.
