Here Is Why Canadians Are Refusing To Pump Gas On The 15th Of April

The cost of living in Canada has been on the rise and has risen a lot in the past few years. One of the aspects that have gotten really pricey for the Canadians is the gas prices. It has seen a substantial rise in the past few months. The Canadians are frustrated by it and trying to bring back an old tradition.

They are trying to bring back a 6-year old boycott movement to drive the prices down. A post has been circulating on Facebook, which is similar to the 2006 “gas out” movement. They are following a precedent set back in 1997 when a nationwide boycott was held and resulted in the prices dropping 30 cents per liter.

The post being shared on Facebook is dated back to 2012 but the shares have spiked in the past week with the count hitting 167,000+. People part of the movement are urging their fellow drivers to join in on the 2018 version of the protest.

The reaction of the Canadians makes sense as the gas prices are rising fast all over the country and it looks like the trend will continue throughout the year. It is still unknown if the gas out will do anything to drive the prices down but the citizens are desperate and will take whatever they can get. They will observe a gas out day on the 15th of April and we will find out afterward if it helps with the rising prices.
