This Self Healing Electric Car Developed By Lamborghini Doesn’t Need Batteries

Lamborghini is reportedly collaborating with MIT to develop a new concept vehicle, called Terzo Millenio, that will no longer need batteries. Instead of batteries, the futuristic vehicle is donned with supercapacitor technology. The car is also believed to be self-healing due to its carbon fiber shell.

The vehicle is said to be super light in weight since the supercapacitors are developed by the car’s own carbon panels but on the downside, these panels are not the best when it comes to power storage for large amounts of time. That is why these cars will not be used as regular cars for now.

Right now the biggest challenge for the research team is to develop supercapacitors that can store large amount of energies as well.
The most stunning feature of the car till now is its physical construction. Constructed from carbon nanotubes, the car has self-healing properties.

“We are inspired by embracing what is impossible today to craft the realities of tomorrow. Lamborghini must always create the dreams of the next generation”, said Stefano Domenicali, the head of Lamborghini.
Looks like Lamborghini is planning on leading the industry in these new technologies. As exciting as the collaboration is, the Italian icon has to beware of other players in the field, notably, Chinese company Nio and Croatian startup company Rimac. Nevertheless, the prospects of an electric car with supercapacitors is surely exciting!
