“I’ve owned many drills in the past, but this one is the one. It is taken anything else thrown at it and laughed in the face. That includes drilling through metal, concrete, hardwoods. The m18 series is fantastic. Get their hackszall too; it is a beast.” – Amazon’s Customer Review.

This is Worx’s WX176L 2-in-1 drill and driver. The unit offers fast and convenient bit switching to change between drilling and driving modes. Little Cons: The battery is especially difficult to take out and charging takes long.

“Thought this was pretty awesome, I’ve had it almost a year now and only had to charge the battery once. I don’t use it at work, and I’m not a craftsman, but for all my around the house needs and little projects, this was the perfect fit for me. My best friend owns a restaurant and a putt putt course, and has borrowed this one for repairs and job when his Milwaukee drills run out of charge, ( or he forgets to charge them) and he likes this 2-in-1 a lot too. I love how the batteries work with my other Worx products. They should come up with some power supply or mounted light or air compressor, something to mount on my aerocart, so I can say my aerocart uses the batteries too.” – Amazon’s Customer Review.

8. Bosch Cordless Hammer Drill ($176.00)

This is Bosch HDS181-02 18 Volt Lithium Ion, 0.5 inches compact and cordless hammer drill with two high capacity batteries and a charger, case. The four pole high-performance motor provides a maximum power in this small size. The very new and patented gear train clutch enables a light design. It has an extremely comfortable handling and the high capacity and slim batteries charge in around a half hour and 15 minutes respectively. They have a charge indicator, a plus. With phenomenal power, the size and weight of this drill are just right. It also has a LED light which shines on your working area. The tool is light in weight, balances well and fits right in your hand to do wonders.

I have owned some older Makita and DeWalt cordless drills and use two different 18v DeWalt drills at work every day (metal fabrication/hot rod shop). This makes my employer’s drills look like junk. I enjoy using this tool after using DeWalts all week long. It’s so powerful, and light and even the chuck works more quickly and holds better than what I’m used to. Having the light on the bottom of the handle makes it shine on your job instead of casting shadows like motor-mounted lights. The batteries are easy to change out. The balance is excellent which helps for using the drill in awkward positions. The only thing I wish it had was a built-in hex bit holder. Otherwise, it’s perfect for general use and at under $200 it’s a great value.” – Amazon’s Customer Review.

The storage bag fits the entire set with ease A small con: The batteries have no charge indicator. The drill just dies when the charge runs out.

“I’m a heavy carpentry hobbyist and have probably used this drill/driver combo more than any other tools I’ve owned over the past two years. They’ve always worked wonderfully and flawlessly. Side note: I used to be skeptical of cordless tools’ power output, longevity, etc., but because of the great experience I’ve had with this combo, I’ve bought several additional Dewalt tools which share the great 20V Max batteries (jigsaw, circular saw, etc.), and they’ve all also worked wonderfully.” – Amazon’s Customer Review.

This unit offers best in class qualities for an improved balance and better control. The chuck is better, and the gear change is smooth. Built well for rugged use.

“This is my second 1/2 inch 18v DeWalt hammer drill. The first one is now ten years old, has a cracked case, the gears are whining, and the smoke is threatening to get out of the motor; altogether not too bad considering the work that drill motor has done in its life. I smoked two different corded drill motors on one project and completed the project efficiently with the battery drill. I have some critical projects going and saw the deal on the bare tool and jumped at it. The new one is superior in every respect. More power, better balance, only a couple ounces more weight. The chuck is infinitely better, the gear change is smoother, and the torque controls are easier to use. I can drive 3-1/2″ wood screws in high gear with no issues with this one; the last one struggled in mid-gear. I think this one will take more abuse as well because the design of the frame was changed to distribute better the forces of turning a bit and bouncing off the concrete from the top of a ladder as well. Because I was very pleased with the older drill motor, the new one is exceptional!” – Amazon’s Customer Review.

The LED light illuminates the working area, and it has an integrated metal belt hook for easy job site accessibility. Highly recommended.

“Comments posted by other users are right on. This drill worked perfectly and was purchased to replace an older Hitachi that had seen five years of heavy use – the best drill I’ve ever had. There is no bit holder, which is inconvenient and makes the loss of a part likely, and the lamp is a useless waste of space, an antiquated technology that serves no purpose. I’d much rather have no lamp, a smaller case, and a bit holder on the side – Hitachi, are you listening? The drill itself performs flawlessly, and I expect similar longevity to my old drill.” – Amazon’s Customer Review.

“Ahh, words can’t describe how helpful these porter cable 20v power tools are. Way better than any DeWalt or cobalt or any brand in my honest opinion. Charge last a long time. “This will not be a very technical review: This is EVERYTHING you’d want in a cordless drill. It drills, screws, and hammer-drills. It has a bright work area light. It has a 2-speed gear box. Its Lithium-ion powered for lighter weight and faster charging (30 min.). It is 18v. for tonnes of power. It came with a case, battery and charger for less $$$ than many that are drill alone. And it is a Makita. My last Makita (7.2 v) died after over 20 years, may she rest in piece. This one may last longer than I do. I did buy the extra batteries to go with it. http://www.amazon.com/gp /product/ B000EDRT70/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_10. And the extra batteries fit perfectly in the case with everything else!!! What more is there?” – Amazon’s Customer Review.

Ideal for flooring applications and excellent slow speed to make sure you’re starting steady. The two batteries that come with this kit are perfect. I’ve been able to go a full day without swapping. The only time I need to swap more often is if I’m using a 1″ wood drill bit going through very dry fir beams/joists. I’ve been able to use an 18″ long 1″ wood drill bit without so much as a slowdown. Very impressive for a drill this size. It’s my general use drill that I use for pretty much anything.” – Amazon’s Customer Review.
